The Community Harvest Fund

Same harvest. Same quality. Sponsored table.

The Fund turns premium memberships into a community wealth engine: contributions from members, checkout round-ups, and higher tiers extend the identical weekly harvest to households that can’t currently bear the full cost. Beginning with 2–3 sponsored households in our first 25-member cohort — and scaling with discipline.

Honest fine print: at launch the Fund is a designated pool inside Root Life LLC, so contributions are not tax-deductible charitable gifts. Sponsored members receive the same containers, same crops, same stories — nothing labeled, nothing lesser.

  • The same weekly harvest, in the same containers, on the same day.
  • The same crop stories, recipes and member emails.
  • A pickup hub the household chooses, never one assigned to it.
  • No separate line, no marking on the box, nobody at the table able to tell which share is which.

Pursuing authorization

SNAP / EBT

We are pursuing SNAP retailer authorization so eligible fresh foods can be purchased with EBT — at the point of sale, no prescription, no gatekeeper.

Partner path

CT Fresh Match

Through GusNIP-funded incentives administered by End Hunger CT!, SNAP purchases of fruits and vegetables can be matched — doubling fresh-food buying power.

Scoped pilot

Community referrals

A carefully scoped pilot with Greater New Haven community-health organizations connects households to fresh food. A referral is a bridge — we make no medical claims.

Where the pathway leads at regional scale: a cooperative marketing hub built demand-first with Liberated Land Cooperative and the New Haven Black Farmers Collective — producers paid, workers owning equity, land held against displacement.
