Counted, Not Claimed

Every figure on this page is verified against our own records before it appears — memberships billed, wages paid, containers packed, hands trained. No projections dressed as results, no charity framing. This is investment, skills, ownership, and land — measured.

How we measure success

Sovereignty is more than a balance sheet.

Financial independence is necessary but not sufficient. These are the directions we hold ourselves to — stated plainly as goals we are working toward, not achievements we claim. We report the honest status of each.

Land & control

Moving from rented growing space toward secured, community-controlled land — a land trust or cooperative title, not a landlord’s lease.

Status: 0 acres owned — honest today

Governance & self-determination

Decisions made by the people the work affects — producers, workers, and community holding real board seats as the Food Hub forms.

Status: multi-stakeholder co-op in design

Workforce & ownership

Dignified wages that become equity: a paid pathway from $21/hour toward cooperative ownership, not a churn of entry-level jobs.

Status: wages paid — tracked in payroll

Cultural continuity

Knowledge kept and credited — crop stories sourced and attributed, artists and knowledge-holders compensated, traditions named with care.

Status: attribution policy live

Intergenerational viability

Built to outlast its founders — youth apprenticeships, a DOL-registered pathway goal, and knowledge documented so it transfers.

Status: 3-year apprenticeship goal

Community accountability

Answerable over time — figures verified before they’re published, claims correctable in the open, and recognition that never becomes co-optation.

Status: public correction policy live

[ Framework adapted from Afro-Indigenous sovereignty & legacy research — stated as goals and honest status, never as achievements we haven’t earned. ]

How these numbers earn the page

  • Every figure traces to a system of record — billing exports, payroll, packing lists, signed rosters
  • Nothing is annualized, projected, or “expected to reach” — we publish what has already happened
  • Sponsored-share counts come from the Harvest Fund ledger, never estimates
  • Youth and cohort numbers count enrolled people, not “touches” or event attendance
  • When a number is zero or small, it says so — a young institution’s honest zero beats a borrowed thousand

What we deliberately don’t count

No “lives touched.” No “meals inspired.” No multiplying a workshop by its attendees’ household sizes. Vanity arithmetic builds press releases, not community power.

“Every box supports food, knowledge, jobs, and land-rooted community power — and we can show you the ledger.”
