Weekly Harvest Membership · New Haven, CT

Eat the Sun.

Every plant food you have ever eaten is sunlight, captured and held in a leaf.

We grow the shortest path between the two — microgreens and farm foods cut in New Haven, picked up weekly at three neighborhood sites.

What we mean by it

It is literal

Photosynthesis is the only process on earth that turns light into food. A microgreen is that conversion at its densest — a seedling spending everything it has to reach the light, harvested at the moment it holds the most.

It is inherited

Afro-Indigenous foodways have always been solar. Provision grounds worked after dark, grain dried in the sun, hibiscus, palm oil, sorghum. Sunlight caught, stored, and carried across an ocean by people who were not supposed to survive the crossing.

It is a verb

Every step between the light and your plate costs something. We keep the count low: cut Thursday morning, in your hands Thursday afternoon. Not a slogan about freshness — a shorter distance.

The Crop-Story Archive

Every Seed Has a Biography

Botanical identity. Probable origin. Migration and diaspora adaptation. African American significance. Documented Indigenous relationships. Culinary use today. Every story carries its evidence grade, its sources, and its known uncertainties — because cultural memory deserves the same care as the harvest itself.
