Where We Grow

One living food system. Multiple neighborhood roots.

Root Life grows fresh food across a network of indoor growing spaces, community farms and neighborhood gardens in Hamden and New Haven. Our distributed growing model connects food production, youth employment, hands-on education, community markets and neighborhood food access.

Five sites · three weekly pickup windows · one growing team. We are not one big centralized farm, and we never claim to be.

Indoor production runs year-round in Hamden. The New Haven sites are seasonal, community-governed ground where we grow alongside neighbours — and where the youth program works.

Each location does something the others cannot. Together they make one local food system — production, education, employment, markets and neighbourhood access.

Pickup policy

Members should arrive during the published pickup window. Unclaimed food is highly perishable and may be donated, redistributed or handled according to Root Life’s pickup and subscription terms.
